What? 4 words today?  😧

Do not worry!  Ronnie will  will help. 👏👏👏

She is a good teacher.
I like her lessons. Her lessons are good.

Watch her lesson. She writes these words, and she talks about them.

A reader asked me to explain this word.  👏👏👏
So, I will make it my #1 priority today‼️

A priority is something important.

What are this guy’s top priorities?

image

Think about what he needs. 🤔
Prioritize the list. I think his top priorities are:

  1. Find water
  2. Make a small home, to keep warm and dry
  3. Find food

Is getting his hair cut a priority?  No!   🙄

Priorities are 1, 2, 3…  Top priority is number 1.
Top priority = High priority.

We will now ride the bus.  🚌

Why does this say “Priority Seating”?  Does it mean you should sit first?

image

No.  The sign says WHO is important on the bus. They have priority. They sit first.

This morning, I prioritized what lessons I would write.

What are your priorities for learning English?  Can you prioritize your ideas and tell me?

Did you see the word prioritize?
In English, we can make some nouns (things) into verbs (action) by adding
-ize.

Priority is a noun.  Prioritize is a verb.  Cool!  😎

Today, I will teach you the word “will”.

Tomorrow, will you go to the store?

Yes, I will.  I will buy something, then I will come home.

Remember the word “would”?

Will” is like “would”.  “Will” means yes, YES, YES!  I will 100% do it!

What will you do tomorrow?

What? What did you say?

What’ll you do tomorrow?

I would play football ⚽️,  but it will rain.  🌧🌧🌧

I will go to a movie. The show starts at 8:00. Will you go with me?

No, I will not.  I won’t go.  I do not like movies.

what’ll = what will

won’t = will not     <<< wow!  It is not willn’t. That would be hard to say!😝

Open this post to learn more!

Please open the box.

Why should I open the box?

If you open it, you will be happy!

image

I see a shop.  Is it open now?

Uhhh, yes.   🙄

Will it be open at 6:00?

YES.  The sign says “OPEN 24 HOURS”.  It will be open!  🙄🙄🙄

image

This cat can open a door.
He opened the door yesterday.

image

Wow! I have never seen a door open like this  😮

If I had this door, I would open and close it 100 times each day!

image

We used the word “open” 2 ways.

  • To do something, like “Open the box”.
  • To talk about the store:  The store is big. The store is open.

Do you want to learn a new word?

OK.  I will show you how to spell today’s word.

s   h   o   m

Oh no!  😮  That is wrong!  I will show you again:

s   h   o   W

Good!  👏👏👏  That is better.

Can I show you a funny video?
Someone showed me this yesterday.

Show” can also be a thing.

What is your favorite TV show? 📺

Hmm… I don’t know.  I like many shows.

I have an idea for a new show:  “English with Mr. David”.  We can all be on it!

Is that a joke?  I think not many people would watch that show. 🙄

Yes, it was a joke.  😆

This is an old song. It is old, but it is good.

You can listen and read the words. It is good to practice listening to English, and to practice reading.

That is what Thomas Edison liked to say. He worked 😅 hard. If it was not good, he tried again.

He made the first the light bulb 💡,  movie player  📽, and the music player. 🎧

Will you try to learn a new English word every day?

On Monday, I tried making a blog. I did not like my first one. I did not stop. I tried again, and I liked it.

I am trying to learn how to read Arabic.   <<< the “-ing” means I still try.  If I said “I tried to learn”, that means I stopped.

I tried to write Arabic words. It was hard. I will keep learning, and try, try again.

If someone gave $1,000,000 to you, what would you do?

Hmmm… I don’t know what I would do.

Give me a minute.  Let me think…🤔

OK!  I know what I would do!  💡

I would like to travel. I would visit people. That would be nice.  ✈️

Please do something for me. On Monday, I gave you a book. Tomorrow, please give it to Sara. Then she will give it back to me.📔

Then I will make dinner for us, and we will talk about the book. 🍲

Here is a video from my favorite YouTube teacher, Ronnie.

She explains “to” and “for“.

Would you like to learn about these?  I want to teach you.

would like” = “want”

“I want some food” is OK, but it is nicer to say
“I would like some food”.

“Want” is a strong word.
Would” is more polite, like asking and saying “please”. It is like saying “If I had some food, I will be happy”.

Would you like a drink?

Yes, I would like some tea please.

Would you like some cake too?

I would, but I am not hungry

If something is not 100% real, you can use “would”:

If you saw a house on fire, what would you do?

I would call 911.

Would you try to stop the fire?

No, I would not.

Really?

No, I wouldn’t. I would call 911.

If your car does not start, would you call 911?

No! I would not. I would call my friend.

Oh?

Yes, I’d call my friend. He would help me.

Really?

Yes, he’d help me.

I’d = I would
he’d = he would
she’d = she would
they’d = they would
you’d = you would
we’d = we would
